The Rocky River Women’s Club
Commitment to Community Scholarship

The annually-awarded RRWC Commitment to Community Scholarship is open to male and female Rocky River residents, of any age, who will attend an accredited college or university in the fall of 2017. Resident applicants are eligible for the scholarship regardless of the location of their high school. All applicants must hold a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or greater for consideration. Several $1000 awards will be granted for one year only and are payable directly to the student to help with books, supplies, and other education-related expenses.  For questions, contact the RRWC at rockyriverwomensclub@gmail.com.

 The criteria to be used as a basis for awarding the scholarship are:

  1. A completed application
  2. A brief statement (300 words or less) from the applicant regarding the impact of community service in his / her life
    • The statement must be typewritten
    • Grammar and spelling will be considered
  3. A complete résumé, including activities, volunteer work, employment, and honors / awards
    • Attention will be paid to sustained commitment to service
  4. Two letters of reference
    • It is preferable to obtain at least one letter from a volunteer coordinator / supervisor, or individual for whom you have completed volunteer work
    • Letters from teachers are acceptable
  5. A GPA of 2.75 or better (on a 4 point scale)
    • Attach an unofficial transcript
  6. A letter of acceptance to a post-secondary institution
    • Attach a copy of the acceptance letter

Selected recipients will be notified in May and required to attend the RRWC Installation dinner where they will accept their award and be recognized by our club.
